During the tryst in Wisconsin between the Teacher's Union and Wisc. Gov. Walker recently, I went in with a semi-opened mind. I did not know all the facts and knew that the MSM would not do anything in any way to clear up that muddled picture. I was quite sadly right about that. All the MSM seemed to want to do was show the Union side, get emotional and create the classic "Mob Atmosphere". To the Teacher's Union I will concede the fact that they also, from what I was watching, did all they could to cultivate the classic "Mob Atmosphere" and in some cases mildly succeeded.
One of the things that really cracked me up was a young lady who was doing crowd interviews for, I believe, the CNN cable news channel. She had just finished with an interview with a lady who wanted to "burn down the Capital Building with Governor Walker inside". She looked at the camera and closed her piece with an "as you can see these people only want a peaceful end to this budget crisis" speech. Standing behind her during the speech was a guy holding an effigy of Governor Walker being hung in a noose.
"Peace, peace, we want peace"
"Yes, a piece of this and a piece of that until we have no more pieces to give. Then we die of starvation."
"Then you will finally be at peace, my friend."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My list of personal reasons why I dislike Unions;
1) When I was young a close friend of mine was horribly burned and at death's door for a full year because of Union BS. He worked for a non-union company and they had a job at the powerhouse of a local baseball field. The city utilities were supposed to go out and shut off the power. They did not go because it would have interfered with their lunch break. Union rules.
Before I continue I must add that the job was supposed to go to a union company, but they could not get to the job for over a week. The three best high voltage men in the city were all employed with my dad, who was number 1 in the state when it came to high voltage work. A high voltage man was needed for this job.
My friend is a high voltage electrician, ranked number three in the state at that time. He and his apprentice went to go do the job. At the job site they called in and were told the men shut the power off an hour before to the ball field. My friend unlocked the power house door which are key only, no doorknobs, and sent his apprentice to get the rest of the tools they may need. While the apprentice went for the tools, my friend began to open the panels and discovered not only was the power not off, but the interior of the power system had shorted, overheated and the interior was now melted. He was blown across the small room into the door and trapped within this hell on earth. He was burned head to toe with only the palms of his hands and feet intact. The coins in his pocket were melted into his flesh. He lived.
The official response as to why the power was not shut off: Union rules, must have a lunch break.
2) I actually tried to join the electricians union once. The head of the union, a man named Ray Johnson told me I had to take the apprentice test and score a 70% or better. I was told there was a "trick" question nobody had ever passed and three "extra point" questions at the end. I had one hour to do the test. Now, I knew there was no real test, but they had these for people they did not want in, and since my dad was the person they hated the most (rated no. 1 High Voltage, excellent reputation, etc..) this was my chance to rub it in their faces. I took their test, and did the three extra point questions well within the hour allotted me. They took the test from me and went into the next room. I watched through the glass and giggled to myself. The looks on the guys faces, the way they talked back and forth was hysterical.
Fifteen minutes later Mr. Johnson emerged with his colleagues who immediately left the room as Mr. Johnson closed the door. "I am not going to give you the typical spiel we do everybody else" he began "I know and respect your dad so I owe him that much. You know full good and well why we gave you this test and I know you recognized the Journeyman's Test when you saw it. When I see your dad tonight in Lodge I will tell him what you did and that you scored 100% and then I kicked your ass out the door."
"I thank you for your honesty Mr. Johnson. You know I don't work with or for my dad so I thought you'd want me."
"Son, you don't know how badly I do want you here. But your dad would disown you and never forgive you." he said as he got up from his chair. He took one or two steps away from me, turned and added "Plus, I'd lose his respect if I let you make this mistake."
I sat there for another minute or two contemplating what Mr. Johnson just told me. The things you learn if you stop and soak it in a moment. The value of respect and friendship are something not to take lightly.
3) I belonged to the Laborer's Union for 2 1/2 years. Total number of jobs I got through them? Zip, zilch, no, none, nada, not a one.
4) I currently belong to a union. I MUST to have my job. Our local consists of mama as the Prez, papa is Secretary, sonny is our Rep. I have contacted my Union Chief Grand High Exhaulted Mystic Poobah because my Local Prez could not help me find an adoption lawyer and the union promises legal help if you need it. Nope, none available - but HEY, remember to vote for Obama for President.

Lastly, regarding the Teacher's Union. The scandal over the fake tests is nothing new. It will also happen again and again until the NEA is gone, which thanks to DC, will not happen. Soon it will be like Mexico's Union which basically rules the country.

Rants, raves and Allen West.
http://www.pjtv.com/?cmd=mpg&mpid=84
I rave about AlfonZo Rachel. I love his work and his beliefs. Go to PJTV and see him and another favorite of mine, Andrew Klavan.

I love Allen West and if he was in my district I would be volunteering to help him. Same with Bachmann and Herman Cain.
If the election were today I'd vote, of those in the race right now, Herman Cain is in 1st strongly. Michelle Bachmann and Ron Paul are tied for 2nd. Paul is my favorite but some of his stuff is a wee bit weird, even for me. Yes, I did vote for him for President when he ran as a Libertarian and if he got the Republican Nomination I would again. In a heartbeat.
How I Feel About This Debt Ceiling Bull

"Don't call my bluff" says it all.

The Emperor has finally succeeded. His minion has succeeded and now the Emperor can complete the mission that the Jedi Knight Ray Gunn temporarily halted over 30 years ago.
"Come, Lord Baiter, we have much work to do" says the Emperor.
"Yes, my Liege" speaks Baiter as he kneels and kisses the Emperors ring.

Christmas will be a bummer this year. All the toys made at the North Pole will now be taxed and import duties imposed. The NLRB has declared that Santa must only hire Union workers and must move his production facility from the North Pole to the state of Washington.
Santa sure looks bummed out.
